When live TV takes an unexpected turn!

We’ve all had those embarrassing workplace blunders, but not all of us have them broadcast to the entire world. Meet Sara Welch, the US journalist who recently went viral for a live TV slip-up that had the internet in stitches in September 2019.
Sara was reporting live for Los Angeles news channel KLTA, covering a fatal pursuit in Southern California when she unwittingly delivered a memorable line. Reporting from the Anaheim police station, she confidently announced, “We tried to reach out to the man who died in this pursuit, they were unavailable for comment.”
The moment this slip of the tongue hit the airwaves, it became an internet sensation. Journalist Yasher Ali shared the clip online, and it quickly garnered over 90,000 likes and nearly 23,000 retweets. Ali couldn’t help but quip, “When I say I nearly passed out from laughing…”

The internet had a field day with the blunder. Mary Elizabeth Smythe humorously commented, “How rude of him not to get back to them. Some people have no manners.” And Jerry Rapscallion suggested, “He may prefer email.”
Reggie Ledesma added a touch of humor, “Well, if you get a comment, you’ve got yourself a class 1A scoop!” While Catarina Fonseca playfully joked, “It so happens that dead people become unavailable. It’s a drag, especially for journalists.”
Of course, there were sympathizers who pointed out that Sara likely meant to say that the news channel had tried to reach out to the deceased man’s family for a comment but got her words all twisted up.
Linda Therese expressed her empathy, saying, “Oh, poor Sara!” And a Twitter user named Dee remarked, “I know that had to be embarrassing as hell.”
It’s safe to say; it was a rough day at the office for Sara. But at least she gave the internet a good laugh!
Remember, folks, live TV is unpredictable, and sometimes even the professionals can’t help but mix up their words in the most hilarious way.
